Organovo is printing organs?

Currently there are 120K people waiting for an organ, most of those are looking for a new kidney. Some won’t get them in time. Organovo has ambitious plans of tissue engineering, more specifically 3D printing of organs. Organs on demand? Might not be far off!

Update:  Here we are three years later and the company is now listed on the Nasdaq (ticker: ONVO) and is estimating it’s just a few short years away from partially printing human livers.  I think we’ll see a tremendous search in medical technologies in the next 20 years and bioprinting is certainly of the most exciting areas.
