Antibiotic Resistance Could Be Biggest Global Threat

According to an article at Wired, citing a study done in the UK, it could lead to millions of deaths (conservative estimate) and many trillions in lost GDP with Asia and Africa hit the hardest.  New antibiotics (and entirely new classes of drugs) are being researched and will be necessary to combat the growing problem.  Imagine a world were minor infections and simple medical procedures put your life at risk.  That’s a scary thought.  This is an issue that will be increasingly discussed in the coming years and hopefully next generation superbug drugs will provide a solution.
